We as humans share this planet with so many different species of fascinating creatures that many photographers make a specialty of photographing only wildlife. Being more of a generalist, I don't photograph animals exclusively, but do enjoy taking their portraits where I find them. Living in the Jemez Mountains of northern New Mexico, many of them are our neighbors, and are often to be seen living near us, or passing by on the seasonal rounds, and of course some of them are our "pets". They add so much color and interest to our lives that it is natural to want to capture and share their images with others.
