Writing is one of those activities that just about everyone does on a daily basis, but seldom for its own sake. The ability to write poetry or prose as a way of exploring and expressing my own feelings has been something that I have visited through the years, but only recently taken up as a constant, growing thing. Most of my writing has come to center on the history of my family in New Mexico, from the epic poem "Gallup to Nowhere (after Ortiz)", which I wrote after reading Simon Ortiz's poem "Gallup to Grants", to the Su Casa magazine article, "Trading Places on Route 66", which explores some of the same family history in a prose format. I hope you enjoy them.
